Who We Are and What We Do

A writer with a love for travel

This blog will try to show fellow South Africans, more so the black population, that it is possible to enjoy a weekend away even if you are not loaded. South Africa is a vast, beautiful country and all its people should seek to know about this beauty. I have purposely placed emphasis on the black population because this group, owing to movement restrictions the past apartheid government had imposed on it, do not know much about their country. My experience growing up in the Gauteng township of Tembisa is of black people doing one-route travelling - from their township homes to their rural homes in Limpopo or KZN, and back. Apartheid ended in 1994 but restrictive factors affecting blacks remained for two decades. Occasional travel for pleasure on a budget is possible today for many income-earners, higher cost of living notwithstanding. Ayifambani - Let's hit the road; yes we can! (Ayifambeni is Tsonga word meaning "let's go".)
